Building on his career as a commercial trial lawyer with a major Wall Street law firm; a senior securities lawyer with United States and Hong Kong regulators; and head of legal to telecommunications providers China Mobile and Vodafone; David Kreider began his career as an arbitrator and mediator in 2003. Attaining “Chartered” status in 2006, David launched his full-time practice, David L. Kreider, International Arbitrator, in 2013. Now a leading independent arbitrator in Asia, included, inter alia, on the SIAC and HKIAC main panels and Intellectual Property and Financial Services specialist panels of arbitrators, he focuses on joint-ventures, intellectual property and technology licensing and development, telecommunications, and general commercial disputes. Having studied Chinese for more than 40 years, David speaks fluently and reads Chinese in addition to his native English. He is a qualified attorney and solicitor in England and Wales, Hong Kong, New York, New Jersey, California, Florida, and Washington, D.C.

Nina Fitzgerald, Partner, Ashurst

Nina focuses on all aspects of contentious and commercial intellectual property and technology law including patents, trade marks, copyright, designs, Australian Consumer Law, passing off and privacy. Nina has clients across a variety of industries including pharmaceutical and life sciences, technology, luxury brands and finance. Nina regularly acts in precedent setting litigation including highly technical patent matters and technology disputes. She advises on all aspects of disputes including pre-action strategy, freedom to operate advice, oppositions in the Registry, interlocutory injunctions, mediations, trials, appeals and damages claims. She has also acted in a number of intellectual property arbitration proceedings. On the commercial side, Nina advises a broad range of clients on their advertising and IP protection. Nina also advises her life sciences clients on the regulation of therapeutic goods. Nina regularly assists with assignment and licensing of IP rights as well as collaboration and contracting agreements concerning IP rights. Nina is admitted to practice law in both Australia and Hong Kong and is a recognised practitioner in several independent legal directories including, being named in the Best Lawyers – Australia and IAM Patent 1000 ranks. Doug Clark

Doug is the Global Head of Disputes Resolution at Rouse, an IP boutique with offices in China, South East Asia, the Middle East and Russia.  He has practiced IP law in Hong Kong and China for over 25 years.  He has been appointed an arbitrator in a number of Hong Kong seated technology arbitrations and is also acting as counsel in a number of cases.  Doug practised as a barrister in Hong Kong from 2010 to 2019.  Prior to that he was based in Shanghai for 10 years as Managing Partner and Head of China IP with a large international firm.

Bryan TAN is a partner at Pinsent Masons LLP. Qualified in both England and Wales and Singapore, he practises in such areas as data protection, finance, technology, media and telecommunications and advises corporates as well as governments and is ranked top tier in several categories by Legal500 and Chambers. He is a legal adviser to the ASEAN Single Window project and the United Nations Network of Experts for Paperless Trade and Transport in Asia and the Pacific and also the co-chair of the TMT sub-committee of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association. Patsy Lau is an IP partner at Deacons, Hong Kong’s largest independent law firm. She is dual-qualified in Hong Kong and California. Locally, she serves as a council member of the Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners. Internationally, she serves on the Asia-Pacific Global Advisory Council of the International Trademark Association. She is a regular speaker on trade mark issues at international IP conferences. She also lectured on IP law at the University of Hong Kong’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE). Patsy has been recognised as an outstanding IP lawyer, including being selected as “Best of the Best - Top 30 Trade Mark Lawyers in the World” by Euromoney Expert Guides, a Noted IP Practitioner in China by Chambers & Partners, and a Leading IP Lawyer in Hong Kong by Legal 500. Anan Sivananthan

With extensive experience in patent litigation, patent management and monetisation, trademark litigation and other high value IP dispute resolution matters, I am also experienced in managing anti-counterfeiting issues. Over the years, I have handled major patent lawsuits in Singapore and internationally across various sectors, specifically Technology and Life Sciences & Healthcare. I have also managed many trademark disputes in Singapore and internationally, including trademark lawsuits, oppositions/cancellations and anti-counterfeiting cases. Those matters span many sectors, including Technology, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Retail & Consumer, Hospitality and Entertainment. More recently, I have handled disputes in Singapore concerning Geographical Indications. I also managed design and copyright disputes, and manage IP commercialisation projects for clients (from due diligence to filing to exploitation).
