The Asia Forum: 5th International Arbitration, Corporate Fraud & Anti-Trust Summit — Hong Kong is scheduled on Thursday, 21 August 2025 at the HFW Hong Kong office, centrally located in the city.  This event will entitle 6 CPD points for full day attendance – upon approval from Law Society of Hong Kong. 

We are delighted to invite a group of local and international speakers at the summit whom will be presenting on various topics in relations to international arbitration, fraud and anti-trust.  Speakers will share theie insights and upcoming trends, providing updates to assist businesses to avoid arbitration as well as tips and tricks. Robert Pé, FCIArb, is an independent arbitrator and CEDR-accredited mediator and has been a member of Arbitration Chambers since 2017. Prior to that, he was a partner of a leading US-origin international law firm for whom he headed up the Asia disputes practice. He served on the HKIAC’s Council from 2014 to 2020 and on the ICC Court from 2017 to 2024. He was also Co-Chair of the ICC’s Belt and Road Commission.

Peter is a dispute resolution lawyer specialising in shipping, international trade, commodities, energy and resources and general commercial disputes, focusing on international arbitration, litigation, contentious insolvencies, asset recovery and enforcement. Peter acts for and advises trading companies, banks, investment funds, charterers, shipowners, operators, P&I Clubs and other insurers. Shipping experience includes a wide range of charterparty disputes (time charters, voyage charters and contracts of affreightment), bills of lading, carriage of goods by sea and sale and purchase disputes. Trade and commodities experience includes coal, iron ore, metals, oil and petroleum products, cotton, agri and other soft commodities. In contentious insolvencies, he acts for claimants in substantial claims against counterparties in Hong Kong and across the Asia-Pacific region. Peter is qualified to practice in both English and Hong Kong Courts and has considerable experience of arbitrations in Hong Kong, London and Singapore. He also assists clients in managing arbitrations and court proceedings across Asia, including the PRC, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, India, Pakistan, Vietnam and Taiwan. His arbitration experience includes HKIAC, SIAC, CIETAC, LMAA, ICC, FOSFA, GAFTA and LCIA arbitrations. Peter has an LLM Master of Laws degree in shipping and insurance from London University. Having lived and worked in Hong Kong since 1997, Peter has advised and assisted many clients with issues arising throughout Asia-Pacific, the Middle east and elsewhere. Dr Caroline Kenny KC, Keynote Speaker

Caroline Kenny is a Chartered l arbitrator specialising in international commercial disputes. She has more than 35 years’ experience acting in complex international matters, including over 16 years as King’s Counsel. She is admitted to practice in Australia, the United Kingdom and New York. She is currently serving her second term as the elected Trustee for Australasia to the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, headquartered in London. She is highly respected in the international arbitration community for her commitment to the promotion of arbitration as the preferred means for resolving international disputes and for her diligent, responsive and practical approach as an arbitrator. Caroline has served as presiding arbitrator, sole arbitrator and wing arbitrator in a broad range of complex disputes, including banking, finance, joint ventures, construction, Mergers and Acquisitions, energy, insurance, re-insurance, IT, licensing, sale of business, manufacture, sale of goods, crypto-currency, entertainment and sports. Caroline also has a keen interest in sports arbitration. She is a panel member for the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). She is also a member of Australia’s National Sports Tribunal. Caroline is the Regional Pathway Leader for the Asia Pacific to teach CIArb’s Fellowship courses and has been involved in teaching CIArb’s Fellowship courses for more than 10 years. She was the Course Director for the pre-eminent Asia Pacific diploma course held in Singapore from 1 to 9 March 2025.

Randolph is the Managing Director of the Dispute Resolution Department of Drew & Napier LLC, Singapore. He also heads the dispute resolution practices of the firm’s Greater China Desk, International Trade and Private Client Practice Groups. Randolph has an active advocacy practice in international arbitration and mediation, cross border and domestic litigation. He is recognised and ranked by various publications including Chambers Asia-Pacific, Chambers Global, Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Asialaw Leading Lawyers, Chambers High Net Worth, Doyle’s Guide and is a Benchmark Litigation Disputes Star. Prior to joining the Hong Kong Bar in 1999 Jeremy was in private practice at Herbert Smith and from 1994 to 1999 an international equity partner with Coudert Brothers where he was Head of the Litigation Department and Co-Head of the firm’s Asia Region Arbitration Practice Group (9 regional offices). Following upon his extensive experience as advocate/counsel in arbitrations, Jeremy acts as arbitrator (sole, co-arbitrator or and presiding arbitrator) in international commercial arbitrations and has accepted appointments under the rules of various institutions as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. Jeremy acts in a broad range of commercial litigation, including company and shareholder disputes, insolvency, trusts and estates, international trade and shipping, conflict of laws, defamation, employment/restraint of trade, professional negligence and securities regulatory matters. His practice has involved numerous appearances in the appellate Courts, including in the Court of Final Appeal [1] . He has been a contributing editor to Hong Kong Civil Procedure. Edward specialises in complex and high-value multi-jurisdictional litigation and arbitration involving international trade, commodities and finance, from initial advice to successful enforcement. Edward’s arbitration experience includes acting for market-leading traders, financial institutions and related service providers under all the major institutional regimes (including the HKIAC, SIAC, UNCITRAL, LCIA and LMMA rulebooks) in jurisdictions across Asia and Europe. He also advises clients on asset tracing, preservation and enforcement. Edward’s commercial litigation practice includes contentious insolvency and fraud with a particular emphasis on complex high-value commercial disputes in the international trade and investment spaces. He regularly appears as an advocate before the Hong Kong Courts, and is qualified in England & Wales, Hong Kong, and the British Virgin Islands. Edward has been based in Asia since 2014. Before joining HFW, Edward gained a Masters degree in Engineering from the University of Durham and worked as a project manager for a Fortune Global 150 multinational in the United Kingdom, France and Holland. Catrina is an accomplished barrister with a versatile practice encompassing all aspects of commercial disputes, including both domestic and international arbitrations, competition and regulatory matters, and administrative and constitutional law. She is widely recognised for her expertise and has consistently been ranked in the top tier of her field. She holds a “Band 1” ranking for Commercial Dispute Resolution in Chambers & Partners and a “Tier 1” ranking in Commercial Disputes, Competition, and Administrative and Public Law in Legal 500. Her expertise in competition law has also garnered her recognition as a Recommended Global Leader in Who’s Who Legal. Jonathan Ah-weng, Moderator — 6th Grand Panel

Jonathan has been recommended in Doyle’s Guide and Legal 500 for his criminal, and family & private client practice. Aside from a focus on commercial crimes, Jonathan acts in civil commercial matters concerning frauds, trusts, and matrimonial disputes. In both his criminal and civil practice, Jonathan regularly advises private high networth clients and companies, both locally and in China. Jonathan is a seasoned and trusted advocate in all levels of court and is “wellrespected” and “very user-friendly”. He also conducts arbitration and complex multi-party mediations. Outside practice, Jonathan has been an active advocacy trainer in Hong Kong since 2007, for barristers and other bodies, such as the Department of Justice and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Mr. Gary GAO is the Partner and the Head of Compliance & Regulatory Department of Zhong Lun Law Firm. Gary is a skilled litigator and arbitrator with over 28 years experiences handling complex, cross-border arbitration, litigation as well as sophisticated commercial disputes. He has represented clients in commercial arbitration before the ICC, HKIAC, SHIAC and other arbitral institutions. He has rich experience in international arbitration, litigation and mediation, familiar with the strategic planning of dispute resolution in multiple jurisdictions, the collection, screening and rules of proof of cross-border evidence production. Scott Warren is a partner in our Tokyo and Shanghai offices, specializing in cybersecurity, data privacy and digital data disclosures in Asia and the Middle East. He also has significant experience in compliance, intellectual property (IP), litigation, dispute resolution, and government regulatory and internal investigations. Scott started his career as a civil litigator in California. He moved to Japan in 1993, where he has lived since. He served seven years as general counsel at Sega Corporation and six years as a senior attorney at Microsoft. He serves on the executive board of The Society for the Policing of Cyberspace, a nonprofit organization. He headed Kroll in Japan and Kroll Ontrack across Asia, and later opened Epiq Systems in Japan, providing IP protection, computer forensics and e-discovery solutions. Scott is a California-licensed lawyer and a licensed foreign lawyer in Japan. He is a Certified International Counter-Cyber Crime Professional and certified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Since 2004, he has served on the Society for the Policing of Cyberspace, a non-profit organization dedicated to working with its global members towards a more secure Internet. He serves at the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, where he was awarded Leader of the Year for 2020, as Co-Chair of the Legal Services & Intellectual Property Committee; Vice-Chair of the Secure Digital Infrastructure Committee; Vice-Chair of the Information, Communication and Technology Committee; and Vice Chair of the Digital Forum.

Kevin Hong leads the international arbitration and litigation practice of Norton Rose Fulbright in Hong Kong. He has a particular focus on arbitration and arbitration related court proceedings and has acted as counsel in arbitral proceedings conducted under different institutional rules such as the HKIAC, UNCITRAL, SIAC, LCIA, CIETAC and LMAA rules as well as ad hoc arbitral proceedings in a number of jurisdictions. Kevin accepts arbitrator appointments and is on the HKIAC’s List of Arbitrators, SIAC’s Reserve Panel of Arbitrators and the panels of arbitrators of Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration and Langfang Arbitration Commission. Lee Ee Yang is the Managing Director of Covenant Chambers LLC, a Singapore law firm with a strong emphasis on dispute resolution and international arbitration. Beginning his career in one of the “Big Four” firms in Singapore, Ee Yang walked the unconventional path and started a litigation practice in his fifth year of practice. Since founding Covenant Chambers LLC in 2016, Ee Yang has seen his practice expand, with a focus on cross border commercial and property disputes. Ee Yang’s expertise in arbitration is complemented by his extensive litigation experience at all levels of the Singapore courts. Howard Chan

Howard is a member of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer’s Competition, Regulation and Trade team in Asia. He has an in-depth knowledge of competition law regimes across Asia (including Hong Kong, Mainland China, and South East Asian jurisdictions such as Singapore and Indonesia), as well as the EU and UK. His practice also includes FDI regulation and other regulatory regimes in Asia and Europe, such as the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation. Howard frequently advises on complex antitrust issues arising in crossborder transactions, joint venture structures, and other forms of cooperation arrangements. He has worked for clients across many different industries, with a particular focus on the automotive, consumer goods, energy, banking, and TMT sectors. Guoyong Huang

Mr. Huang Guoyong has nearly twenty years of working experience in financial institutions,government departments and arbitration institutions. He has extensive experience in dispute resolution, specializing in the fields of international trade, finance and capital markets. He joined the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) in 2017, and serves as Director of the International Cooperation and Development Department, taking charge of administration of foreign-related arbitration cases, communications between legal & business communities, international cooperation, as well as collaboration among the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Mr. Huang also provides support and guidance for the operation of specialized platforms such as the SCIA Mediation Center, and GBA Arbitration & Mediation Alliance, etc. In 2024, Mr. Huang was appointed as the Assistant President of the SCIA.

Christopher Marks

Christopher Marks is a Senior Managing Director and regional lead for Data and Technology across APAC at Ankura based in Hong Kong SAR. Chris, with over 25 years’ accountancy experience, has spent over 20 years in digital investigations with close involvement and oversight of complex cross-border litigation support, digital forensics, legal document review and FCPA investigations. Chris has carried out complex investigations to civil and criminal standards, with courtroom experience, utilising his understanding of facts derived from electronic evidence in an investigation and applying relevant best practices. He is highly skilled in all aspects of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and helps clients respond to cybersecurity incidents using his many years of computer forensic experience. Before joining Ankura in 2021, he was a Senior Managing Director and colead of the Asia technology practice at a major management consulting company having previously been Associate Partner at a Big Four professional services firm in Hong Kong. Chris has been engaged on behalf of special committees and their independent counsel, clients’ management in internal investigations, appointed monitors and compliance consultants pursuant to settlement agreements, and as a shadow investigator on behalf of a Big Four professional services firm’s audit practice. He has worked with companies in many industries, but most extensively in social media, financial services, pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, mining, consumer and diversified industrial products, medical devices, and gaming. His experiences of the various data laws and regulations across the Asia region enable him to provide expert advice to ensure compliance with the complex requirements of the many jurisdictions, particularly those of the People’s Republic of China.

Winnie was Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association between 2015-2017, and holds qualifications to practise in the Greater Bay Area of China, Singapore and England and Wales. Dr. Vanina Sucharitkul is a Partner at Rajah & Tann Singapore, specialising in international arbitration and has experience advising clients on a diverse range of cross-border disputes in a range of sectors and investment treaty arbitration. Admitted to the California Bar, Vanina has practiced at international law firms in San Francisco, Bangkok, Paris, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Elizabeth Shin

Ms. Elizabeth Shin is a Senior Foreign Attorney in the International Arbitration Team at Lee & Ko. Over the past decade, Ms. Shin’s first-class performance in complex high-value commercial, construction and investment treaty arbitrations have earned her much-deserved recognition both at home and abroad. Market commentators have described her as a star player who “provides eloquent advocacy… and operates to an international standard”.
